Palmer House Hotel and Shops

In 2009, Chicago’s historic Palmer House Hotel underwent a total renovation. ICL’s involvement included the following:

  • First and second floor retail development
  • Lockwood Restaurant and Potter’s Lobby Bar
  • Hilton sales offices
  • Conversion of basement to parking
  • Conversion of hotel manager’s suite to keyed rooms
  • Restoration of landmarked plaster ceiling in the former Peacock Jewelers space
  • Spa Chakra:  This 8,000 square foot full service luxury spa is located on the fifth floor of the Palmer House. A forest of colored light columns at the entry creates a transitional space from the business hotel to the serene spa. Sustainable design features include recycled and rapidly renewable materials, low light levels, individual temperature controlled treatment rooms, low water usage plumbing fixtures, and non-toxic substrates and adhesives. The program includes four footbaths, twelve treatment rooms with en suite bathrooms, a hydrotherapy room, a Vichy shower room, a makeup playground, and a hair salon.
